The Montgomerys, a Tennis FamilyThe Tennis ConnectionThe Montgomery's are a tennis family. Bobby began the game at age five and played his first tournament at age nine. He was the Kentucky High School state champion in both singles and doubles and went on the play college tennis in the Ohio Valley Conference at Murray State University. While at Murray he won seven out of eight position conference championships and Bobby was selected OVC conference player of the year. Other MSU achievements include a member of the OVC all time tennis team, and an inductee into the Murray State Hall of Fame. His highest achievement as a player was being ranked 279 in the world. Before getting into real estate, Bobby was a tennis professional in Pensacola Florida and Director of Tennis in Carmel California, Durham, North Carolina and here in Charlottesville at Glenmore Country Club. While in California Bobby began his real estate career as he assisted a very successful real estate team in Carmel. In 2001, Bobby resigned from Glenmore to join his wife, Voe, in her real estate business at Real Estate III. Voe began playing tennis as a youngster for recreation and she began to have a more serious eye for the sport when son Huntley took an interest in the game. Voe played leagues and participated in social events with friends and family. As Huntley began playing competitively she became a tournament advisor for the family. Supervising a tennis family can be more consuming than most full time jobs. Son, Huntley played many sports as a youngster but had a strong attraction to tennis at a very young age. Huntley always had a state, region and national ranking in the juniors. At age 16, he was ranked in the top eight in the United States. He was the North Carolina Singles State High School Champion and his team won the High School State Championships. After high school, Huntley chose The University of Virginia as the place where he would play collegiate tennis. While at UVA, he had much success with the highlight being ranked number 1 in doubles in the NCAA's in fourth year as well as being crowned the United State National Amateur Champion. He was also selected to the All-time ACC team and was selected as one of the top 50 tennis players in the history of the ACC. Huntley continues to play after college as he is playing professionally. He has been ranked in the top 300 in the world in singles and is currently ranked #127 in the world in doubles. Kyle followed in the family footsteps as she began tennis at a very young age as well. She held state, regional and national rankings in the juniors. She too was a North Carolina State Champion as she was state champion in doubles. Kyle had great success in junior tennis as she won the MidAtlantic National Qualifier in the girls 16's. After graduating from Albemarle High School, Kyle chose The University for her college of choice. She played varsity tennis for two years for UVA before setting the game aside to focus on her academics. One of their inspirations for the love of the game comes from Voe's father 'the original Huntley', Huntley Johnson. He has been playing the game for nearly sixty years and remains an active participant as he plays a good three times a week. He is referred to as 'the KING!
